AvanTx Director

Marc F. Wiegand is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. He holds a B.A. from the College of Arts and Sciences (Plan II), an M.P.A. from the LBJ School of Public Affairs, and a J.D. from the University of Houston School of Law with a Certificate from the British Institute of International and Comparative Law.

Mr. Wiegand has been a practicing business lawyer for over 30 years.  He has been a partner with two international law firms, Bracewell & Patterson (now Bracewell & Giuliani LLP), and Holland & Knight LLP, and has extensive experience in the areas corporate, partnership, and real estate transactions. In addition to his transactional practice, Mr. Wiegand is an active trial lawyer and, in recent years, has obtained over $4,500,000 in ‘first chair’ judgments for his clients.  He continues in private practice through The Wiegand Law Firm pc which specializes in international corporate, real estate transactions and dispute resolution through trial, mediation and arbitration, and is also involved as a real estate entrepreneur. 

Mr. Wiegand has been active in civic and legal organizations, including as President of Blue Star Contemporary Art Center in San Antonio, and as a founding member of the U.S.-Mexico Bar Association.
